Akal Takht Jathedar for fighting social evils

Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti today called upon Sikhs to launch a drive against social evils like drug abuse, liquor consumption, dowry and female foeticide.
Addressing a gathering here, he urged the Sikh leadership to set an example by fighting all social evils.
The Jathedar asked the leadership to take a pledge in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib that they, would never imbibe liquor, or any kind of drugs and also oppose giving of and taking dowry. He also asked the Sikh leaders to pledge to fight female foeticide.
''This would be the real service to the community,'' Mr Vedanti added.
