So I've noticed over a long period of time that the English SRM on the SGPC website has occasionally received a little edit or two.

The first time I noticed it I figured I'd imagined it. I can't even remember what it was that I noticed.

And just now I noticed that there is a scanned version of SRM on the SGPC website now - it looks better than the digital version I accessed from 2015 - but there is a little difference in the text itself. Not a change in a footnote, and not a major change.

But it's ruffled me somewhat. The edited entry is in Chapter X, Article XVI, p.

The version in 2015 said: "He who regards another man’s daughter as his own daughter, regards another man’s wife as his mother, has coition with his own wife alone, he alone is a truly disciplined Sikh of the Guru."

The version now, in May 2018, says: "He who regards another man's daughter as his own daughter, regards another man's wife as his mother, has coition with his own wife alone, he alone is a truly disciplined Sikh of the Guru. A Sikh woman shall likewise keep within the confines of conjugal rectitude."

I would have hoped, if they can make this kind of amendment, that the could make a change at the end of Chapter X, Article XVIII, b. It could go from saying "A Sikh's daughter must be married to a Sikh" to "A Sikh's daughter must be married to a Sikh. A Sikh's son must be married to a Sikh."

Have I missed something?

TBH it differs at many places from than the original SRM... In English it is differently numbered, differently indented. Who made all these changes, we have absolutely no idea.

For example, In English version it strangely says that Sikhs should not make Frocks & Dresses from Rumale... I could not find such mention in the original SRM... or it may be mentioned at some other place but i could not find it...

So, it seems SRM is being mysteriously changed without any notice or approval...

Do you have direct link? If Ingot to their site and click on rehet Maryada and English Incan only see a scanned page of the ‘preface to the English version’ of SRM and no way to view the actual SRM in English anymore.

I want to check the paragraph on selecting Panj Pyaras and make sure they didn’t remove the statement allowing women to be selected.
Anyway this is all I see when trying to view with no links or anything to view rest of it.

Attached is the version I downloaded from Sikh Rehat Maryada in English just now. You'll need to compare it to an SRM you obtained earlier to satisfy yourself of the comparison.
