Sikh News Palki(place Of Placing Holy Book) Of Gold

You have a point about visiblilty and letting people see about sikhi but I disagree with you're above statement. Wouldn't a better example to children be providing resources and funding for projects aimed at children, such as the new excellent new "Sahibzaday" dvd instead of pouring money into...

    What Am I?

hehe....not really struggling, just interested in people's responses to questions I feel the need to sit and ponder. I have no answers myself...all is with with Waheguru's grace. If i can't answer now, in time it will come. In the mean time, I have you all as Sangat to help me :wah:

    Short-hair Ban On Gurudwara Marriages

I think this is the very point that dear Vijaydeep and Dr Khalsa have been trying to make. I think many poeple here are confusing the idea of the general concept of reaching out to the sikh community and making sure people don't feel alienated or abandoned, with the sacred union of marriage...

    What Am I?

Had a thought yesterday and i didn't have any idea as to how to even approach an answer. It's still a bit muddy in my head, maybe writing it down will make it clearer... The universe is created from God and all matter (from atoms to galaxies) is basically an expression of God. yes? i.e...

A Few Tips For Nascent Sikhs?

Hi Just a small thing to add. Though listening to recorded paath is good, and helps a person to focus, try not to get into his habit too much, especially if you do this in the context of your working life (i.e while you're doing other things). It becomes very easy to "tune out" and never...

    Earrings, Rings, Make-up

Although you are correct that it's the spirituality from inside that makes the difference, the external is also a reflection of the internal state. A sikh's "uniform" of panj kakkars and leading a simple, honest life are reminders and guides to help us on the path. Not to be rude, but the...

    Need Help? Too Bad!

I see what you mean but it works both ways. I've seen youngsters want to take active participation but get no support from the community/gurdwara beause they're stuck in their own political agendas and games. I've also seen gurdwaras that really make an effort but the youth couldn't care less...

Sikh Girls: A Confused Lot. Are Parents To Blame?

Though...inspiration, especially in a personal sense, is a very good motivator to encourage people to change. Our Guru's understood this only too well thus became a living and personal inspiration to everybody. I'd say, seeing the Khalsa's going into battle and laying down their lives, would...

    Need Help? Too Bad!

I wouldn't put this directly down to the fault of the Gurdwara but just of the age we're living in... Unfortunatly, many of the youngsters are not as involved or in touch with Sikhi, so the Gurdwara's are abandoned and left for those who still have a sense of commitment, responsibility and...

Sidh Gosht - Pauri 1 - Guru Granth Sahib

Re: Sidh Ghost - First Pauri - My Understanding sorry for butting in but I don't really see it as a problem. It's a greeting and a statement saying : "The Khalsa belongs to Waheguru" "Victory belongs to Waheguru" you're not necessarily referring to yourself, just that the Khalsa belong to...

    Can We Ever Achieve Predictability?

In relation to the above post, I just had a thought.... Since God, and presumably our souls exist outside of time, who's to say that our past lives are in, what we consider as, the past. Could we come back at any point along the space-time continuum?
