[Abu Dawud]. Commentary: This Hadith tells us that those who take to beating their wives are not perfect people. The  decency of manners warrants that one must refrain from beating, as is  evident from the conduct of the Prophet (PBUH) who neither resorted to  beating with his own hand any of his wives nor slaves nor any other.
