SOCH is now 80G certified!:</p><p>With the blessings of Waheguru ji and your continuous support we are now 80G certified. In simple words it means that any contribution made in the same of SOCH can be declared as savings for tax exemption. Definitely a major milestone for all of us! We are in process of getting the receipt books reprinted and would soon roll out more information pertaining to how our well wishers can be benefitted from the same.</p><p> </p><p>2. School Results declared! Pass percentage : 100%</p><p>Its time of the year when the dreaded exams are over and students are all smiling because of the good marks that they have scored for the hard work they have been doing round the year. Apart from the four students which discontinued the school because of family and personal reasons, rest all cleared their grades and are looking forward to the new academic session. We are in process of scanning the scorecards and would be mailing them soon. With this mail we are sending scores and names of top three students from each class. Also is attached a sample record card from school for your reference.</p><p> </p><p>3. Lookout for a better school!</p><p>We have been looking for a better school for the kids. Their strive to learn and your continuous trust have motivated this mission to move forward to anchor on superior education institute. We have identified a better school ‘C.M.R. Model high School’, which is almost at the same distance from their homes as the current school. We are sorting out the admission process with the school authorities. For the local readers of this mail, be ready to get busy with the admission process and uniform purchases and lots of other activities coming for this busiest part of the year for SOCH!</p><p> </p><p>4. Another step, another inspiration!</p><p>Surinder Singh was sent to Bidar last year to study in Guru Nanak Public School for senior secondary education since he was one of the brightest kids and wanted to continue his education with full commitment. SOCH has now volunteered to support his education financially for the school studies and along assist him in taking preparatory classes for Medical entrance exams which would be help him taking admission in college of medicine for higher studies.</p><p> </p><p>Activities:</p><p>1. Parbhaat Pheri:</p><p>The kids and their families joined us for the Parbhat pheri which was organized as part of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s Prakash Utsav Celebrations. The event took place on 14th Nov. Gurbani Kanth Mukabla</p><p>Realizing the importance of the baani in our lives, Gurbani kanth mukabla was organized in the community where the students were asked to memorize the Paath and narrate back to Bhai Nirvair Singh (their mentor) or to the SOCH members who had volunteered for this activity. While the elder ones learned path during this, it also benefitted the younger ones who now would love to narrate the names of Ten gurus, Panj Pyare, Chaar sahibzaade, Panj Takht to you next time you visit them!</p><p> </p><p>3. A visit by YSL</p><p>We were lucky to have Manpreet Veerji with us from YSL (Young Sikh Leaders: <a href="http://www.youngsikhleaders.org" target="_blank">www.youngsikhleaders.org</a> ) We got an opportunity to spend some good time with him, getting guidance of how we can make more contributions to the society with the expertise that each one of us have in our work domains. He also visited the community kids and was thrilled to see the kids and this project giving good shape to the dream of getting basic education. </p><p> </p><p>4. Summer Camp</p><p>After the school exams kids have been excitedly waiting for the Summer Camp which group volunteers have organized for them. The camp not only educates them on Sikhi moral values, but also about the general topics like hygiene, Gurudwara Etiquettes and other Sikhi topics and all of these in a playful interactive sessions with visual aids. The camp is in full swing right now and would be ending this Sunday (1st May).
