Re: What is 3HO ? 3HO stands for Happy, Healthy, Holy. The 3HO organization as a whole has attracted many people that have struggled with addictions. The decision to quit substance abuse alone is a tremendously difficult one. Getting rid of the addiction and rebuilding one's life is a long battle to fight. I admire Yogi Bhajan's way of finding the armor and the weapons that these warriors can use to fight their enemy. Our community gets the benefit...the warriors that are strong enough to win the major battles become Sikhs in the end. I can't say that I know what it is like to struggle with substance abuse. But having once been a professional musician, I know what it is like to watch someone go through that battle. It isn't pretty. The rebuilding stage takes far longer than the requisite 30 days of detox. There may be some Sikhs that have detoxed through 3HO, but now find that 3HO reminds them too much of the ugly battles they fought trying to get where they are. It's not unusual for a recovering person to curse the people trying to help him/her recover. There may be some Sikhs that have gone simply looking for fellowship, but have not met the fellowship that they were seeking. Or perhaps, Sikhs that feel that 3HO just simply isn't their path...or isn't their path anymore. Certainly we know Sikhs that have started attending a different gurdwara for whatever reason, yes? The same can happen in 3HO. The large scale of 3HO may only be amplifying the everyday things that are happening at local gurdwaras. That is just my guess, though. I have never been part of the community, myself...I just think highly of the sangat.
