Prof Sahib Singh ji is following the examples used by the Authors of SGGS..that is they all..PROVIDE the know-how/prevalent ritual/behaviour/beleif etc...AND then they give THEIR VERSION. Prof Sahib Singh thus gives us the exaple of How and what the YOGIS DO.... 1. Yogis beleive in six chakras. 2 Yogis suck IN their Breath in such a way as to take it down to the navel chakra to PURIFY IT..and then they take that pure breath to the Dasvaan Duar and HOLD IT THERE..for as long as they are in SAMADHI. ( This is ususally described in Yogi stories as the Saadhu who was in samdhi for Centuries..eons of time..whatever...and in Contemporary nature seems to resemble HIBERNATION. THEN its what Bhagat kabeer ji is saying...His thoughts are NOT in the Physical REVERSAL of BREATHING as the Yogis doa nd practise...His Central thought is to DIVERT THE MANN's WINDS that ..."begin blowing towards VIKAARS...bad thoughts..actuions..at a moments notice...this is the WIND/BREATH/PAVAN..that kabeer Ji wants us to DIVERT...towards dharma..good deeds..good thoughts...towards The CREATOR...and HOLD this BREATH at the Creators feet ...( as the Yogis do tot heir Breath inside their body).. THIS is the meanings that prof sahib Singh is providing. His LAST LINE ( just as the RAHAO LINE ALWAYS INDICATES...provides this answer. A person who DIVERTS his Mann WIND from this world, its vikaars TOWARDS the Creator..achieves whatever the Yogis hope to achieve by withholding their breath inside the Dasvaan duar via their six chakras... GURBANI is for the MANN...the MIND..so PHYSICAL HOLDING BREATHS is an utterly useless exercise ( Yogis do this)..and Bhagat kabeer Ji is instructing us in the RIGHT WAY...DIVERT the Mann "WIND"...rather than the PHYSICAL BREATHS...which can give you helath benefits BUT will NOT provide Mann/Mind Clarity/cleanliness/ or Love of the Creator which is the AIM of Gurbani written in SGGS. The Sant Singh Khalsa translation of course...goes the YOGI WAY...its more concerned with the PHYSICAL actions of the Yogis their chakras and etc etc..and he leaves OUT the mann Mind factor (mostly). The SGGS is NOT a Yoga Exercise Manual.
