Still don't see which shabad in particular says to abstain from cow meat or meat as such. Please read the shabads in full to gain full understanding of the saying..Please... Sikhi is above all these restrictions. Food is for body and Naam is for soul.... I only and only agree with Guru Nanak that food has nothing to with one's spiritual journey 'Baba hor khana khushi khuar. Jit khadhai tan pidiai, man mahi chalai vicar.' (Sri Rag, M. 1, pp.16-17) (The other food taken for pleasure leads to misery. It causes pain in body, and evil thoughts in mind.) This is it, eat what pleases your body, don't eat what causes you pain. Eat what you can digest easily, Don't eat what causes you digestion problems, and each individual is different.... absolutely different. I personally give equal importance to Veg and Non Veg both and I regularly eat beef, pork, goat, chicken and fish meat, but never in my life I have felt that its either helping me or retraining me in naam simran. Eating in moderation and according to your body is the key, and that's what Guru Nanak said. Read and Contemplate the Gurbani Khasla Ji....... Gurbani is to save us from all unnecessary rituals and beliefs. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Puninder
