Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a Tamil Hindu. Must be thanked by all sikhs around the world for his selfless service to peoples regardless or cast or creed. SSRS acted as a spiritual embassador for the guru and traveled to Iraq to speak to the vice president Abil Abd Al-Mahdi about restoring the historic shrine of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Iraq in Baghdad, which was destroyed by the war in 2003. YouTube - Iraq to rebuild Guru Nanak Dev Ji 's Gurdwara This source says that a shrine was dedicated to Guru Nanak in the 15th century by the arabs of baghdad which he had given a discourse too. Baghdad for half a melinium was the CENTER of KNOWLEDGE and SCIENCE in the world. The Christian/papacy priesthood plunged europe into a dark age for almost a millenia while in baghdad the arabs where preserving and at the forefront of science, mathematics, philosophy and arts. I have read other sources that say that Guru Nanak traveled through baghdad in one of his UDASSIS, on the way to meca. While there he saw the arabs suferring and made for the village a well. As a result of Guru Nanak Maharaj's mastery over poetry, language and musicology. It is plausabile that he stayed and gave a enlightning discourse and/or kirtan(as he would have been with Mardana Ji on his Rebab) in the beutiull and challanging Arabic tounge. Guru Fateh to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for doing this seva and getting the VP to promise to rebuild the shrine. animatedkhanda1 As far as if his shady or corrupt , i have no idea. In this dark age it seems like all our political and spiritual leaders have fallen into darkness.
