Sikh body seeks UN trail against Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa for war crimes By HAINDER SINGH http://www.sikhsiyasat.net/2013/02/22/sikh-body-seeks-un-trail-against-sri-lankan-president-mahinda-rajapaksa-for-war-crimes/ Dal Khalsa today condemned the Sri Lankan government over the “inhuman act of alleged cold blooded murder” of Balachandran, minor son of the slain LTTE chief V. Prabhakaran. HS Dhami, President of Dal Khalsa, addressing a rally organized by “Sikh Youth of Punjab” at Tanda (Hoshiarpur) on February 05, 2013 Party head H S Dhami said theirs group would write to United Nations officials demanding an international investigation into the alleged human rights violations by Sri Lanka in the last phase of the civil war. “The pictures of the 12-year-old boy murdered in cold blood, published in newspapers, are evidence of the human rights violations committed in Sri Lanka. This is not a question of Tamil people but a question of a human being.” Seeking a trail against Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa for war crimes, he said while Western countries were ready to support the US-sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC to be tabled next month, ironically India has maintained stoic silence on the issue. “India’s silence was not new. It has always maintained double standards on contentious issues and many times it had taken somersaults”. Slamming India too for committing gross human rights violations of Sikhs, he said what Sri Lankan government did with Tamil fighters, their children’s and sympathizers under the garb of fighting militancy, Indian state did the same with Sikhs in 1984 and afterwards. “Small children’s of Sikh fighters and pilgrims were not spared by India’s security forces during the assault on Darbar Sahib in June 1984”. He hailed Chief Minister Jayalalitha for refusing to host the 20th Asian Athletics Championships scheduled to be held in TN in July, on the ground that the participation of Sri Lankan players would hurt the feelings of Tamils. “She is a bold lady, who had shown guts earlier also when under her leadership the TN assembly passed a resolution seeking commutation of death sentence of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassins into life imprisonment.
