School Buses Turning ‘Yellow Coffins’ In Punjab But Who's Bothered

The life would be so ‘cheap’ in this state perhaps no one cares. The CM PS Badal and Deputy CM Badal sent their condolences and announced ex-gratia for the aggrieved families, and they seemed to have washed their hands off the responsibility.</span></p><p><span style="color: Navy"></span></p><p><span style="color: Navy">Today the state woke up to the fatal accident near Jalandhar where 12 children died. Recently children school van was hit by the train at an unmanned crossing and 15 had perished and in the year 2012 more than 40 school children perished while traveling in their school vans. But has it shaken up the pathetic bureaucrats and police administration. The answer is big No.</span></p><p><span style="color: Navy"></span></p><p><span style="color: Navy">The school vans are run by the untrained drivers and when the accidents take place neither the school nor the administration take responsibility. They keep passing the buck to the one and another. Similarly, are responsible the parents themselves who are hardly bothered to send their wards to the school in the over-crowded school vans, caring less that they are inviting troubles. The police administration is hardly bothered to check the credentials of the school van drivers as they are bribed with the untrained or ill-trained drivers thronging the roads right under their nose.</span></p><p><span style="color: Navy"></span></p><p><span style="color: Navy">The day has come when the people need to ask the administration to chalk out plans why the accidents are ruining the families. Any Tom, **** and Harry can come and take license and start driving on Punjab’s roads as the District Transport Officers are neck deep in corruption. There is no check on rash driving and unpliable buses and vehicles keep horning around the roads.</span></p><p><span style="color: Navy"></span></p><p><span style="color: Navy">The licensing issues process needed to be spruced up to check the road accidents. The stringent law and rules needed to be framed to check the rash driving and over-loading and over-crowding of the buses especially school vans needed to be checked and such vehicles and drivers must be penalized heavily for putting the lives of the people on road in danger.</span></p><p><span style="color: Navy"></span></p><p><span style="color: Navy">Actually the lawlessness on roads speak loud about the general careless and scant regards for the law in Punjab where everyone knows this or that politician and he will not be stopped or checked by police for ignoring the traffic norms.
