O my mind, see the Lord ever close at hand. [COLOR=Green]ਵੇਖੁ see ਹਦੂਰਿ Presence, ever present, close by[/COLOR] ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Janam maran ḏukẖ parharai sabaḏ rahiā bẖarpūr. ||1|| rahāo. He shall remove the pains of death and rebirth; the Word of the Shabad shall fill you to overflowing. ||1||Pause|| [COLOR=Green]ਰਹਿਆ imbue, permeate, pervade ਪਰਹ remove, cleanse, erase, eradicate ਭਰਪੂਰਿ everywhere, in every situation, completely [/COLOR] ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ Sacẖ salāhan se sacẖe sacẖā nām aḏẖār. Those who praise the True One are true; the True Name is their Support. [COLOR=Green]ਅਧਾਰੁ support, sustenance ਸਲਾਹਨਿ praise in this sentence those who praise the one who is true, they are true, and the true one is their support[/COLOR] ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ Sacẖī kār kamāvṇī sacẖe nāl piār. The false are plundered by falsehood. ||2|| [COLOR=Green]ਮਹਲੁ house, mansion ਪਾਇਨੀ keep ਕੂੜਿ liars, those who are false and untruthful ਮੁਠੇ plundered, ruined ਕੂੜਿਆਰ This is the verb for liars, To lie, to be false or untruthful[/COLOR] ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਗੁ ਮੁਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥ Haumai karṯā jag muā gur bin gẖor anḏẖār. Engrossed in egotism, the world perishes. Without the Guru, there is utter darkness. [COLOR=Green]ਜਗੁ world ਮੁਆ die or perish ਘੋਰ darkness ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ignorance[/COLOR] ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥ Māiā mohi visāriā sukẖḏāṯa ḏāṯār. In emotional attachment to Maya, they have forgotten the Great Giver, the Giver of Peace. Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes immaculate and pure; egotism and corruption are discarded. [COLOR=Green] ਨਿਰਮਲਾ pure and unblemixhed ਤਜਿ renounce, relinquish, abandon, discard ਵਿਕਾਰ wickedness, wrongdoing[/COLOR] ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥ Āp cẖẖod jīvaṯ marai gur kai sabaḏ vīcẖār. So abandon your selfishness, and remain dead while yet alive. Contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad. Those who do not have faith in the Primal Being, the True Guru, and who do not enshrine love for the Shabad - [COLOR=Green] ਸਬਦਿ believe ub gave faith ਲਗੋ hold, grasp, hold onto[/COLOR] ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਜੇਤਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ Isnān ḏān jeṯā karahi ḏūjai bẖāe kẖuār. they take their cleansing baths, and give to charity again and again, but they are ultimately consumed by their love of duality. [COLOR=Green]ਖੁਆਰੁ pleasures of ਭਾਇ love,, attraction[/COLOR] ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ Har jīo āpṇī kirpā kare ṯā lāgai nām piār. When the Dear Lord Himself grants His Grace, they are inspired to love the Naam.
