The meeting represents increased collaboration between the organizations and the federal agencies to address one the communities most serious issues. Order here.</p><p></p><p>SALDEF Joins Rights Working Group in Protest of Racist Hearings</p><p>Chair of the House Committee on Homeland Security Representative Peter King (R-NY) is planning to hold a series of Congressional Hearings on the "radicalization" of Muslim Americans. SALDEF feels these hearings are discriminatory and will increase the likelihood of hate crimes and racial profiling across the country. The hearings pose a risk to all communities that have been targeted based on their race and religious beliefs. The sign-on letter raises concerns about these hearings and their impact on religious profiling. The effort is being led by our partners at the Rights Working Group. </p><p></p><p>All Sikhs Encouraged to Celebrate March 14th as Sikh Environment Day</p><p>Sikhs across the world will celebrate March 14th, Gurgaddi Diwas of Guru Har Rai Ji as Sikh Environment Day. During this week, 101 Gurdwaras in the Sikh Diaspora and 101 Gurdwaras in Punjab will celebrate the day by holding divaans and events on the environment. Please visit <a href="http://www.ecosikh.org" target="_blank">www.ecosikh.org</a> to learn more.</p><p></p><p>National Geographic Apologizes to Sikh Americans</p><p>Earlier this month, SALDEF received an apology from National Geographic for their misrepresentation of Sikh Americans in a documentary titled “Inside Al-Qaeda.” Although the company has agreed to remove the offensive segment from the documentary, SALDEF is exploring the opportunity to create positive programming on Sikh Americans.</p><p></p><p>Upcoming Events:</p><p>1.
