It's interesting to me, I have met numerous people claiming to be 'atheists' and even befriended a few of them. I always come to find out that those people who are atheists are indeed that way because of a few reasons. Either a) something bad happend in their life, mabey their mother or child died or their spouse cheated on them or, they just dwell on the negetive aspects of the world and say 'how could a loving "God" allow such bad things to happen to me and the world.' B) they don't want to deal with the reality that there might come a time in their exsistance when they have to answer for their actions. They'de rather just believe, because it makes their life easier to believe such, that there is no God, no Supreme Being, or no soul, so when you die you simply rot in the ground without having to aswer for any past negetive actions so it allows them to take up a 'you only live once so live it up' stance or in other words a materialistic stance, or what I like to call, a Babylonian exsitence. Which to the western world is much more "entertaining" and "pleasureable" than leading, or at least attempting to lead a more pious exsitence. And c) which in some ways is along the same lines as b. In just about every religion and philosophy in the world, at one point or another the person is required to 'submit' to something. Whether it be the Ik Oankar, some form of the Ik Oankar, Some sort of Angelic or Daemonic entity, some sort of spiritual teacher or guide, or some combination of the above. Most people have a real problem with submitting because it causes them to lower or completley abolish their ego, which some people simply cannot allow. So they go about their life trying to find some sort of alternetive solution, or mathmatical equation that proves that their is no God, afterlife, extra dimensiaonal entities, etc so they don't in turn have to submit to anything and they can lead their prideful exsistence without fear of reprocution. I know I discus matters like these with a brother of mine and we come to the same basic conclusions. Its funny though because we talk about how various scientists and people try to do thousands of experiments and tests and studies to prove that God isn't real but can never actually, scientifically, come to that conclusions, although they are trying desperatley too. But my brother made a very interesting statement to me which I've meditated on and I find quite intriguing. He said "It takes much more faith to be an atheist than it does to believe in God." An interesting idea. One I would personally have to agree with. As a side note wonderful article Amanji WJKK WJKF Santokh daas ikonkaar
