Ek OnKaar Sat Naam SPNadmin ji, I am sorry you have been disappointed with my posts on this thread. However I am not interested in identity of Sikhs, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Jains, aetheists, agnostics, Indians, Pakistanis, Punjabis, or any other race or creed. I wish to see them all as humans, and nothing more and nothing less. I am not interested in glorification of past events, or heroism or idolisation of past figureheads. One can live now and one can work for a better future. History of the past cannot be changed. Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is much more than a "works". SGGS is my Guru ji. I need turn to no other source for spiritual advice, and when it comes to religion, it is spiritual advice alone that motivates my interest, and not history. Historic events are exactly that. The records relate to events in the past. Knowledge of past events can inform an individual and guide the individual when making future decisions. There are alternatives. One alternative is to put all trust in Guru ji and God. The article as written relates to misrepresentation. Guru ji is here and now with me. God is here and now with me. If I put my faith in Guru ji and God then I have no fear of their guiidance leading me astray. If I rely on records of past events to guide my life decisions, then I will be subject to any misrepresentation that may have occurred. For the very same reason I put very little reliance upon others interpreations of Gurbani. I am interested in reading others thoughts as it enhances my understanding, but I try to do so with care, and with an expectation that there may some form of bias. I prefer to put my faith in Guru ji and God to lead me wherever God will take me. References in SGGS ji to events in the past do not change whether the referred to events of the past are truly recorded or not. It is the advice that is critical. The events are of extreme importance to the meaning, but the meaning will be the same whether an event is accurately documented in SGGS ji or is used as a hypothetical example by Guru ji. A metaphor can give far more impact to understanding than any amount of true, realistic or logical examples. This does not imply that I believe any part of SGGS ji to be inaccurate. I have full faith in the authenticity of SGGS ji and integrity of Guru Sahiban and Bhagats contibuting to SGGS ji. I am not prepared to put the same level of faith in other sources, and the doubt of other sources is at the heart of the lead article. Possible misrepresentation that has taken place to date, makes me uncertain about statements and other documents, and when there is Guru Ji to guide me, then I do not need to even consider any other sources. P870: If you feel following advice ofered by Guru Ram Das ji is undermining Sikhi or SGGS ji then I would be grateful if you would please ban me and delete my posts. I am not prepared to reject the advice of SGGS ji, or to delve into history to see whether it is true or not. Whether it is or isn't will not change SGGS ji. Thank you for your kind patience to date. Sat Sri Akal
