I recently read an article where the male friend of the 23 year old gang rape victim told of how when they were laying naked in the street covered in blood, it took 2 hours before police even arrived and then, since several showed up the police spent 30 minutes arguring over who's jurisdiction it was. One of the Officer's finally threw a blanket to him (after they went to a hotel to get one) to cover his friend, and then while he was seriously injured as well, had to carry her to the vehicle to be transported to the hospital. Then if that wasn't enough, the police took them to a way further away hospital, rather than to the nearest private hospital. Her friend also said, that if it had not been night time and less traffic, she would have likely died that night. In addition to all the above, the boy was left for 4 days on a gurney in the police station! (Here is the link to the TIME article: http://world.time.com/2013/01/05/india-gang-rape-victims-friend-recounts-attack/) So what is wrong with police there?? Delaying arriving at a scene, then arguing over jurisdiction, making one of the victims carry the other to safety rather than helping, then delaying help even further by going to a more distant hospital??? It's obvious they were not concerned one bit about these two people and getting them the urgently needed medical help!!! And of course the police, they are denying it in their statement. But I just can't see how or why the boy would lie about those details... Do police there actually ever uphold the law and help people??
