[QUOTE="toot_roberts, post: 85336, member: 6834"] the way that i see it is that we all as individuals should aim to keep our loved ones happy, but if it is at the cost of sacrificing youir own happiness it is a completely different story. I would love to be able to live my whole life keeping my parents and family happy, but i have now fallen in love with a non-sikh guy, i can either keep my family happy and keep this man out of my life but i will never be happy if i then marry someone else as this non-sikh is the love of my life and i know it! in this instance i am willing to risk upsetting my family in order to keep myself and him happy, when we do have children i will not bring them up as sikhs, i will send them to punjabi class in a gurdwara, so they can at least learn the language, where they will most probably lean about sikhi themselves (as i do not think i have much knowledge on the religion to give them myself) if they choose to follow it then it is fine, if they choose not to follow it it is also fine by me as i want them to follow their own hearts and destinies and focus on keeping themsleves happy.
