If the Sikhs honchos had an iota of Sikhi bravura and Gurmat values that our Gurus and many other Sikhs showed us in our short history, then they would dismantle Hemkunt, bring back the SGGS. By taking this bold Sikhi step, we will be back as Sikhs according to the SGGS and also this bold action has several other very meaningful advantages. 1. It brings us back to cultivate Gurmat values without the stomping in of Hindutva in it. 2. There is no historical significance of Hemkunt. It is solely based on Hindu myths that have crept into Sikhi, brought in by some so called Sikh scholars of yesteryears for the reasons only known to them. 3. It would help bring back the beauty of this beautiful place which is littered with human feces, plastic bags, bottles and other unimaginable rubbish. All these things left by the Sikhs are against Gurmat values despite piously parroting the famous Salok: Pavan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat….. several times a day. It is hypocritical to say the least to chant these meaningful words with a smile while throwing the garbage at the same time to stain the pristine nature. This is what I call “practicing Sikhi through parroting” Gurbani without acting with its help. 4. All the money spent which include travel costs, langar, sleeping arrangements and many other things can be put to a better use in a pragmatic manner of selfless seva. One can start many projects with the money to make people’s lives better. 5. Last but not the list, SGGS prohibits any kind of pilgrimages. What kind of Sikhs are we who refuse to follow the teachings of SGGS, our only Guru? Tejwant Singh
