[QUOTE="spnadmin, post: 144024, member: 35"] Harpreet murder: CBI decides not to examine remaining witnesses PATIALA: In a significant development in the murder case of Harpreet Kaur alias Rosy daughter of former SGPC chief Jagir Kaur, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) here in court of special judge (CBI cases) submitted that it doesn't want to examine any more witness out of pending over 20. According to defense counsel Satnam Singh Kler, CBI counsel SK Saxena submitted a statement here in the court of special judge (CBI cases) Balvir Singh, that he is dropping the remaining witnesses and closing the case of prosecution. "On March 4, the court had directed the CBI to reply whether they wanted to examine other remaining witnesses," said Kler. As per sources there are around 125 witnesses in case out of which 90 have been cross examined by defense counsel while around 10 have died during the past 10 years. In all, 25 witnesses are from various government departments, who have remained connected with CBI investigations at various positions. Many witnesses have not supported the CBI story while appearing in court. Rosy had died under mysterious circumstances on the intervening night of April 20 and 21, 2000 and was allegedly hurriedly cremated by her family the next morning at Begowal. The court has fixed March 25 as the next date of hearing.
