This is how Guru Arjun Ji bore his torture, this is how people stay positive and outward thinking even when life goes to hell! This is what I hope to achieve! [QUOTE="findingmyway, post: 189368, member: 12855"] My interpretation below: Ik Oankaar Sathigur Prasaadh || See Mool Mantar Har Jeeo Kirapaa Karae Thaa Naam Dhhiaaeeai Jeeo || Ik Oankaar shows compassion on all by giving us the ability to choose to become Gurmukhs (whether we choose this is another matter). When we make this effort then we incorporate Gurbani into every moment of our lives. This is the true meaning behind acquiring Naam. Sathigur Milai Subhaae Sehaj Gun Gaaeeai Jeeo || When Ik Oankaar is found, the person becomes absorbed in Waheguru’s love and the soul remains in peace. We remain in joy (singing about) Akaal’s good qualities. Gun Gaae Vigasai Sadhaa Anadhin Jaa Aap Saachae Bhaaveae || While singing about the glories of Ik Oankaar (not literally singing but its an expression of joy), that person remains in full bloom. Whenever I live by Gurbani, then I obtain a true life for my soul. Sravanee Sunee Th Eihu Man Thripathai Guramukh Anmrith Peevaa || When my ears are used to hear (not just listen) to the Truth, then my mind is becomes satisfied and full. It is filled with the ShabadGuru and there is no space to contemplate on duality. Think back to your own life. When you are listening to kirtan and katha, there is a sense of wellbeing and peace. Do you agree? Nadhar Karae Thaa Sathigur Maelae Anadhin Bibaek Budhh Bicharai || I remain at the feet (metaphorically) of Ik Oankaar and keep drinking from the amrit of the Shabad Guru (by listening, reading, acting it). This is how to find the Truth and what God really is. Use your discriminating mind to help you always follow the right path, to remain connected and never separate from the Sat. I personally think the use of bibek buddhi or discerning intellect is very important here as it shows there is no room for blind faith, mindless rituals etc. Your mind should be used in a proactive and sensible way to understand whether things you are told really fit in with Gurbani and the Truth. Andhar Saachaa Naehu Poorae Sathigurai ||2|| Ik Oankaar shows us the way, and deep within my mind develops a deep connection/love for the Creator within. Sathasangath Milai Vaddabhaag Thaa Har Ras Aaveae Jeeo || The person who has great fortune (i.e. makes the effort), is able to understand and become one with the Sat Sangat (Waheguru). The mind becomes unattached and pure. Halath Palath Sobhaa Jag Anthar Raam Naam Liv Laagee || That person appreciates the beauty of this world and others, and the whole universe. That person remains in all tasks in the love of Ik Oankaar. Harakh Sog Dhuhaa Thae Mukathaa Jo Prabh Karae S Bhaaveae || That person is free from both pleasure and pain, and is happy with whatever comes to pass in life. This concept for me personally is truly inspirational and is the thing the spurs me on most to try and become a Gurmukh. Can you imagine how easy life will feel if the extremes of emotion and reliance on external ups and downs is removed, if the mind stays stable? This is how the shaheeds and the mothers with their children around their neck achieved what they did. This is how Guru Arjun Ji bore his torture, this is how people stay positive and outward thinking even when life goes to hell! This is what I hope to achieve! How about you? Sathasangath Milai Vaddabhaag Thaa Har Ras Aaveae Jeeo ||3|| The person who has great fortune (i.e. makes the effort), is able to understand and become one with the Sat Sangat (Waheguru).
