This article draws on a historical incident supported by some documented sources, so I am equally justified in using historical references to present my arguments..... Just to recall Harsimrat Badal Akali leader in Parliment angrily in the Lok Sabha said It was our Guru who sacrificed who was beheaded to save your Tillak and Janeau .. And When challenged by a BJP MP that the Gurus belonged to Hindus as well, Harsimrat Kaur angrily rejected the former’s claim and emphasized that the Gurus belonged only to the Sikhs. A similar narrative was given by Yograj Singh, the father of ex-cricketer Yuvraj Singh durning farmer protest During the times when invaders like Ahmad Shah Durrani attacked, countless Hindus women and daughters were abducted and sold for a pittance. It was the Sikhs who risked their lives and fought to save their honor and bring them back.” Neither of the above reflects a tone of humanism... instead, they convey more of a tribalistic mindset. It is a historical fact that Aurangzeb’s policies were aggressive Islamisation ,, Destruction of temples,,,Mass conversions (especially in Kashmir). Since the author of this article has citied sources from M.A Macauliffe Let me cite from book Vol4 fof the same author : Guru Gobind Rai thus writes of his father: -He protected the frontal marks and sacrificial threads of the Hindus And displayed great bravery in this Kal age. When he put an end to his life for the sake of holy men, He gave his head, but uttered not a groan. He suffered martyrdom for the sake of his religion; He gave his head but swerved not from his determination. God's people would be ashamed To perform the tricks of mountebanks and cheats. Either this passge was missed out from his research or he deliberatley avoided to mention it . Other source used is Sooraj Peakash Granth by KAvi Santokh Singh .. Now this granth also has verses that indeed consciously identified Gurus sacrifice for Hindu Dharam , rashi 12 : There are some persian texts and quote from Dasam Granth as well which refers the guru with hindu identity If you go by historical texts which the article drives its information from there are Hindu identity markers. Yes,Gurus act represents Humanistic values, but Humanistic values arise from specific struggles. At that moment in history, the oppressed community was Hindu. And Based on the Historical Sources His sacrifice upheld the civilizational continuity of the land which includes Dharmic philosophy, culture, and practices.
