ਕੋਟਨ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋਊ ਨਾਰਾਇਨੁ ਜਿਹ ਚੀਤਿ (ਅੰਗ ੧੪੨੭)
Kotan meh Nanak kou narayan jeh cheet (ang 1427)

Kotan - millions
Kou - rare someone
Narayan - Lord
Cheet - heart

Rare is the one in millions who truly has the Lord resided in his or her heart.

You must have heard about the incident that happened in Harmandir Sahib a few days ago.

A man jumped over the rails and went on to grab a Kirpan with the probable intention of hurting someone or just desecrating the sanctity of the Holy place.

Some people got up and quickly grabbed him and controlled the danger that could have befallen on others.

He was dragged outside where the angry mob took out their rage, in the process this wrongdoer was killed.

People are divided in their opinion about the incident. Some say he deserved what happened to him, others feel he should have been kept alive to find out who hired him to carry out this despicable act. Many feel, no one had the right to take anyone's life no matter what.

What amazed me is the tranquility of the person who was reciting the Path when this unfortunate incident happened. He was startled for a few seconds but continued reciting the verses, despite the danger from a person who was holding a sword near him.

The lines that were being recited at the time of the evening were ਜਿਨ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਸਭੁ ਗਵਾਸੀ - Those who meditate on the Fearless Lord become completely fearless.

I couldn't help comparing his tranquility and stance, who was not deterred by a man who was armed, to the reaction of the people who killed an unarmed person. And all the people were in the same place listening to the same divine verses?

I wish and pray for the essence of Gurbani to enter into our hearts. We are known for our compassion and forgiveness, who recite Dekh ke andith keeta (forgo the wrongdoing of others).

It's one thing to recite gurbani and another thing to become what the verses say.

Unfortunate incidents happened both at Kapurthala (Lynching ) and HarMandir Sahib (Beadbi & Lynching).

What is more strange and shocking is not a single PRACHARAK ,Sikh Intellectual or Politician has yet come forward and opened their mouth on these incidents.

ਤੈ ਨਰ ਕਿਆ ਪੁਰਾਨੁ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥What have you achieved having listened to Puranas(Granth)?
ਹਿੰਸਾ ਤਉ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਛੂਟੀ ਜੀਅ ਦਇਆ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਲੀ ॥Neither you have given up violence from your mind ,nor you have shown any kindness to other beings.

All their Moral philosophies & speeches gone for a TOSS.
