Interesting.. I have read some of haroon khalids work and their is a part of this article that I feel his characterisations to be confusing.. He jumps between narratives... Dara shikoh was a contemporary of guru arjun dev ji. Guru gobind singh ji did have battles with mughal proxies but actually despite being framed in modern times as sikh vs mughal they were more khalsa sikh vs local hill rajas.. Who were happened to be Hindu.. Religion had very little to do with it.. It was about power.. We seem to forget that guru gobind singh ji travelled to the deccan and was in cordial communication with bahadur Shah.. As the article states mir mannu came to power in the late 18th century during the time of the sikh misls... It is a giant leap to bridge a historical gap between the two and despite being a common popularised narrative has very little factual merit.. Moreover mir mannu was a vassal of the afghani war Lord ahmad shah abdali not the significantly diminished authority of the mughal rulers.. Furthermore the reference in this article is to the chota gulughara which even in sikh sources has numbers in the 10s of thousands not 100s of thousands.. Now some of this is academic.. But we must be careful as to not keep conflating and perpetuating ahistorical narratives.. It's far more complex
