Ishna Ji, Gurfateh. There can be no two opinions about this. Some may argue that the SRM is "faulty" ( and it may indeed be as modern research on these granths and the way we have been manipulated by vested interests does show )..BUT in so fas as the SRM stays as the Official SIKH REHAT MARYADA of the entire Guru Khalsa Panth ( its also a fact that many many Jathas and Jathebandis have always had their own Maryadas - Damdami taksal, Akhand Kirtani jatha, Nanaksar Thaaths etc all have thier own separate maryadas and DONT recognise the SRM from Day ONE )..no one has the right to "break away or not follow" the SRM (at least in PUBLIC LIFE). The Guru Khalsa Panth has the RIGHT to alter/change/ the SRM as long as the changes reflect and pass the touchstoen of Gurbani of SGGS. Various attempts are underway to do such changes..BUT if done the same way as the changes doen on the Nanakshahee Calendar..then the Entire Panth WILL NOT SUPPORT the changed SRM as has happened to the Nanakshaee Calendar. The Changes to the NC do not pass the touchstone of Gurbani and Sikh History and so are unacceptable to a large section of the Panth...( SGGS has absolutley no mention of any Vadees and Sudees which have been incorporated into the new NC which means its ULTRA VIRES the Gurbani). As of NOW..my stand on the SRM is as a Follower of the Guru Khalsa Panth and its Official SRM, I follow what the Panj Piayaras instructed me when I took Khandeh battee dee Pahul...and I will continue to do so until the Panth changes anything. I have my own private opinions based on research and anbhav of Gurbani which I follow in my private life One on One with MY GURU. So far MY GURU has guided me well and will continue to do so in future as I have complete FAITH in the SGGS as the Sarab Kala Samrath GURU.
