The Absence of GURMUKHI in Pakistani Punjab is due to history..they have no choice. Pre 1947 Punjab had been using F{censored}e URDU as Official language..all govt documents birth certs land files etc are in f{censored}e/Urdu ONLY. There was no Gurmukhi anywhere..and therefore when Pakistan was created in 1947..there was no chocie left except to use Shahmukhi script ( which by the way is a COINED WORD to counter GURMUKHI !!)Because to say URDU means the language URDU as well..and say F{censored}e also means Persian Language..so Shahamukhi was COINED to describe PUNJABI in URDU/ARABIC SCRIPT. And Pakistani Punjabi has a heavy influence of F{censored}e/Arabic/Urdu words too...they call Father ABBA Mother as AAMee..unlike we who call PITA Ji MATA Ji..MAAPEH..as oppsoed to Walad..valadean..etc . This is Natural and SGGS contains many of those words too. IN INDIA however there is a deliberate attempt to bring down Gurmukhi/Punjabi and favour HINDI by infiltartion of sanskrit words and sabotage the langauge . The sad thing is Punjabi is delegated lower even in Chandigarh etc..and latest news form Baru Kalghidhar trust run University founded on SIKH FUNDS has stopped Post grad courses in Punjabi/Gurbani !! These people are running Akal Academies and claim to be training sikh studnets in Gurbani punjabi etc...but it may be just a farce too...
