Dera Ballan accused of plagiarism in preparing holy book 'Amritbani' of Guru Ravidass IP Singh http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-03-01/chandigarh/37372396_1_guru-ravidass-dera-ballan-plagiarism JALANDHAR: Serious differences have cropped up within Adi-dharmi (Ravidassia) with a century and half old Dera of village Chak Hakim near Phagwara alleging plagiarism by Dera Sachkhand Ballan, the largest dera of the community which announced to found a separate religion three years back, in preparing 'Amrit Bani' Granth. This Phagwara based Dera has alleged that the verses contained in this 'Amirtbani' Granth were not of Guru Ravidass, as projected by Dera Ballan, but authored by Sant Hira Dass in his over century old Granth 'Ravidass Deep'. however Dera Ballan has denied the charges. Addressing a press conference here Mahant Parshotam Lal, a descendant of Sant Hira Dass - who established Dehra Guru Ravidass Mandir Chak Hakim in nineteenth century - even provided the copies of pages from the Ravidass Deep Granth, completed by Sant Hira Dass in 1908 in his handwriting and then getting it first published in 1912, from which he alleged that verses were copied by Dera Sachkhand Ballan. Highlighting striking similarities in the text of the two Granths, Parshotam Lal pointed out that wherever name of Sant Hira Dass was written in the versus as author of Ravidass Deep it was deleted by making some changes and it was shown in 'Amritbani Granth' as if these were written by Guru Ravidass. Stating that around 80 percent of the text was copied he alleged that this included Mangla Charan, Naran Mah, 46 Shabadsand 105 Shalokswere copied almost ditto except the name of Sant Hira Dass. Challenging Dera ballan to come out with the original texts from which they have taken the versus to include in 'Amritbani' Parshotam Lal said that Dera Ballan should either tender an apology in 15 days 'for misleading the community" and clarify the things or he threatened that he would pursue legal action against the Dera. On this occasion All Indian Adi-Dharam Mission president S S Heera and Samaj Bachao Morcha convenor gian chand were also present. He said that he even met Dera Ballan head Sant Niranjan Dass and his deputy Sant Surinder Dass Bawa on the issue after he discovered these "Plagiarism" in December but latter was adamant and refused to clarify the issue in public. However, when contacted, Sant Surinder Dass Bawa claimed that versus of Guru Ravidass was contained in various granths and they had these sources with them. He rather alleged that Sant Hira Dass inserted his name in the Bani (compositions) of Guru Ravidass. He rubbished the charges of plagiarism and held that all the versus contained in Amritbani were of Guru Ravidass.
