[QUOTE="spnadmin, post: 141339, member: 35"] Bangkok Sikhs help Taliban victim’s kin September 23 , 2011 Chandigarh, Jan. 18: The Sikh community of Thailand has come to the rescue of four young children whose Sikh father was beheaded by Taliban terrorists on the border of the Khyber and Orakzai agencies last February. Jaspal Singh and two relatives were kidnapped by the Taliban while travelling to visit family in the Khyber Agency. The terrorists cut off their hair and tortured them for 41 long days before publicly beheading 29-year-old Jaspal on February 20, 2010. The sole breadwinner of his poor Peshawar-based family, Jaspal’s killing left his young widow an four children – three boys aged 13, 9 and 6, and a two-year-old daughter – in dire distress with no hope of any help from the Pakistan government or the local community terrorised by Taliban. But generous donations from Bangkok’s Sikhs have helped the family buy a grocery shop and pay the cost of educating Jaspal Singh’s sons in a Peshawar school. The donations were routed through representatives of the international Sikh advocacy group, United Sikhs. “Donations received from the Bangkok Sikh community helped Jaspal Singh’s family by purchasing goods and paying a deposit for a grocery store,” said Mr Herdyal Singh, United Sikhs aid coordinator in Pakistan.
