It is not a living Guru but is accorded the respect equivalent to a living Guru. The Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the foundation of Sikhi. If you do not believe in Sikhi that is fine but do not insult those that do. For us the Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our guide, teacher, support.
