It would be great if nihangs could rejuvenate sikhism. They are the ultimate warriors that made the ultimate army. When I hear the word Nihang, the first things that come to mind is the complete blue bana with big dumalla, sword and spear, battlefield, shastar vidiya, Anandpur, story of Bachittar Singh battling the charging elephant. I know that alot of the others have the bhang coming to mind first. It's sad, as these bhang practices apparently crept in slowly due to strong hindu influences that have infiltrated the temples in the last couple of hundred years. Sadly, the shastars are of less use in this day and age. Using firearms etc.. is what would be expected but hand combat training would still be a strong element in devoloping skills. I remember that back in UK there was a strong movement that started with youths mainly calling themselves nihangs. Many held great respect and pride for this group, as they had fantastic combat skills, knew what to do with spears and swords, dressed in the full bana . But they did lack the spirituality of the historics. They were kind of wannabe nihangs with the intentions of rebuilding sikhism from the core. Slowly, they faded from the scene. I think there is still alot of true widespread spirit that was among the historic heretics. If this could be united and cultivated, new horizons would open. Waheguru Luckysingh
