They only convey information; they cannot carry the contents that the words imply. Any one can utter the word ‘Anand’ but what it is, is known only to those who have experienced it. The contents of this words can be experienced only through ‘The Sat’.</span></span></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">2. </span></span><span style="color: maroon"><span style="font-family: 'WebAkharThick'">jwixAw Awnµdu sdw gur qy ik®pw kry ipAwirAw ] </span></span><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px">jaa<u>n</u>i-aa aanan<u>d</u> sa<u>d</u>aa gur <u>t</u>ay kirpaa karay pi-aari-aa.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px"></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px"></span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><span style="font-size: 12px">One can know what this eternal bliss is only when the beloved (The Sat) graces the individual.</span></span></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><strong><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><u>My understanding</u>:</span></span></strong></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><span style="font-size: 12px">This experience of ‘Anand’ the individual receives only with the grace of ‘The Sat’. I understand it to be so, because it is not a worldly experience, which can be organised by or for the individual. It is not a mental joy that the conscious part of the brain can manipulate and make the individual experience it. This feeling of bliss originates from where ‘The Sat’ resides in us. Once the individual becomes pure, her or his full being is illuminated by ‘The Sat’ and only ‘The Sat’. ‘The Sat’ being the master, the bliss naturally fills the individual. I hold the view that one has to qualify for the grace of ‘The Sat’ by becoming a pure human; the bliss is the natural consequence of this qualification.</span></span></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">3. </span></span><span style="color: maroon"><span style="font-family: 'WebAkharThick'">kir ikrpw iklivK kty igAwn AMjnu swirAw ] </span></span><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px">kar kirpaa kilvi<u>kh</u> katay gi-aan anjan saari-aa.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px"></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px"></span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><span style="font-size: 12px">Bestowing the grace ‘The Sat’ detaches us from sinful tendencies, healing the individual with ointment of wisdom.</span></span></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><strong><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><u>My understanding</u>:</span></span></strong></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><span style="font-size: 12px">Guru Sahib is telling me that when the individual is graced ‘The Sat’ i.e. her or his whole being getting illuminated by ‘The Sat’, the individual feels fulfilled and thus the desires and consequent craving and sinful tendencies do not arise in her or him any more. Such individual crosses the domain of knowledge and enters the domain of wisdom where all that she or he does is always right and for higher cause much beyond the self.</span></span></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">4. </span></span><span style="color: maroon"><span style="font-family: 'WebAkharThick'">AMdrhu ijn kw mohu qutw iqn kw sbdu scY svwirAw ] </span></span><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px">an<u>d</u>rahu jin kaa moh <u>t</u>utaa <u>t</u>in kaa saba<u>d</u> sachai savaari-aa.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px"></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-size: 12px"></span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><span style="font-size: 12px">From deep within, having got over the attachments, their Shabad ‘The Sat’ arranges. </span></span></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><strong><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><u>My understanding</u>:</span></span></strong></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><span style="font-size: 12px">My understanding is that what is written in Sri Guru Granth Sahib (Sikhi) is Shabad, uttering what is written there is also Shabad, singing the same is also Shabad and a life lived according to the teachings (Sikhi) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is also Shabad. The latter form is Shabad in action in real life. We Khalsas read Shabad, we recite Shabad, we sing Shabad, and we live Shabad i.e. we play out the Shabad (its teachings) in our real life. </span></span></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><span style="font-size: 12px">Guru Sahib in this sentence is telling me that if from my deepest layers of my mind I get over all of my attachments, then the grace of ‘The Sat’ (which infuses wisdom in me) will enable me to live my life in accordance with the Shabad.
