We work to bring perpetrators to justice, investigate and expose human rights violations, and organize survivors to engage in advocacy. </em></span><span style="font-family: 'Arial'"><em>ENSAAF, or justice in many South Asian languages, works within the framework of international human rights law and standards, independently of any government, political ideology, or religious affiliation. </em></span><span style="font-family: 'Arial'"><em>ENSAAF currently focuses on mass crimes perpetrated against Sikhs in India. Documenting these violations and fighting impunity granted to perpetrators will impact the culture of impunity in the entire country. </em></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-family: 'Tahoma'"><span style="font-family: 'Arial'"><em><strong>Jaskaran Kaur</strong>, Co-founder and Executive Director, has authored several seminal reports on human rights abuses in India, including <em>Twenty Years of Impunity: The November 1984 Pogroms of Sikhs in India</em>, and, as a contributing author, <em>Reduced to Ashes: The Insurgency and Human Rights in Punjab</em>, analyzing over 600 cases of extrajudicial execution and disappearance by Punjab's security forces. Kaur currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Discrimination & National Security Initiative of the Pluralism Project at Harvard University. From 2003 to 2005, Kaur was the recipient of the Irving R. Kaufman Fellowship from Harvard Law School. In 2001, she went to Punjab on a Harvard Human Rights Summer Fellowship to study the role of the judiciary in handling habeas corpus petitions filed before the Punjab and Haryana High Court by families of the disappeared; her study was published in the <em>Harvard Human Rights Journal</em>. Kaur graduated with distinction from Yale College in 2000 and Harvard Law School in 2003.</em></span></span></p><p><strong>Sukhman Dhami</strong>, Co-founder and Legal Director, was the recipient of the 2004 Unity Award from the San Francisco Coalition of Minority Bars and South Asian Bar Association for his outstanding service to the legal community. Dhami also received a two-year fellowship through the Ford Foundation to address issues of impunity for human rights abuses in India. Prior to joining ENSAAF, he volunteered for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the Public International Law and Policy Group. At the American University, Washington College of Law, he worked for the War Crimes Research Office and the International Human Rights Law Clinic. We work to bring perpetrators to justice, investigate and expose human rights violations, and organize survivors to engage in advocacy. [/I][/FONT][FONT=Arial][I]ENSAAF, or justice in many South Asian languages, works within the framework of international human rights law and standards, independently of any government, political ideology, or religious affiliation. [/I][/FONT][FONT=Arial][I]ENSAAF currently focuses on mass crimes perpetrated against Sikhs in India. Documenting these violations and fighting impunity granted to perpetrators will impact the culture of impunity in the entire country. [/I][/FONT][/FONT] [FONT=Tahoma][FONT=Arial][I][B]Jaskaran Kaur[/B], Co-founder and Executive Director, has authored several seminal reports on human rights abuses in India, including [I]Twenty Years of Impunity: The November 1984 Pogroms of Sikhs in India[/I], and, as a contributing author, [I]Reduced to Ashes: The Insurgency and Human Rights in Punjab[/I], analyzing over 600 cases of extrajudicial execution and disappearance by Punjab's security forces. Kaur currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Discrimination & National Security Initiative of the Pluralism Project at Harvard University. From 2003 to 2005, Kaur was the recipient of the Irving R. Kaufman Fellowship from Harvard Law School. In 2001, she went to Punjab on a Harvard Human Rights Summer Fellowship to study the role of the judiciary in handling habeas corpus petitions filed before the Punjab and Haryana High Court by families of the disappeared; her study was published in the [I]Harvard Human Rights Journal[/I]. Kaur graduated with distinction from Yale College in 2000 and Harvard Law School in 2003.[/I][/FONT][/FONT] [B]Sukhman Dhami[/B], Co-founder and Legal Director, was the recipient of the 2004 Unity Award from the San Francisco Coalition of Minority Bars and South Asian Bar Association for his outstanding service to the legal community. Dhami also received a two-year fellowship through the Ford Foundation to address issues of impunity for human rights abuses in India. Prior to joining ENSAAF, he volunteered for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the Public International Law and Policy Group. At the American University, Washington College of Law, he worked for the War Crimes Research Office and the International Human Rights Law Clinic. Dhami graduated with an M.A. and J.D. from the American University's School of International Service and Washington College of Law in 2002.
