Controlling Parents Need Help Please

I am a 36 year old female. I was talking to a guy from the states and we were going to get married once we had met and my parents were happy that he had true intentions towards me. Unfortunately my uncle has been finding things out about him as he lives in he same state so now he has told my parents that he's no good. This is through idol gossip. The reason he has found this out is due to his ex who has been spreading lies. Also I feel as though I can't marry, choose where to live or do as I please. My family including siblings black mail me and control my life even though I am 36 years old. My parents can't keep me in the UK if I want to live elsewhere. Also they abuse me mentally, emotionally and verbally. I was hoping to get married and be happy but it looks like they will control every aspect of my life and I am sick of it. They have told me if I go with this man they will disown me as their daughter. My own mother said I should have been killed at birth.

My family and the majority of my associates are the same. Every single person who thinks they're close to me try to control me and are abusive.

Do what you want to do, most people want to compete with you or control you, so BE FREE.

Sometimes the greatest blessings come when we fight for what we want, the whole world may try and stop us or want us not to have what we want, or for us to fail, but when they do, we push even harder until we achieve what we want to.

People prey on vulnerable people and sometimes people who are just way too nice. People can be Jealous and Envious.

Do what you want to do and do what makes you happy, forget everyone else.

How can they disown you at 36? They should be happy that you have finally found someone!

At your age, people aren't that fussed and are just glad that you are getting married! So mush extra stress being put in this situation.

Tell your parents, do they want you to marry when you are a buddhi?

You seem to be trapped in a very controlling, abusive, patriarchal, and misogynistic environment, and you certainly should not have to deal with that! Sorry to hear that you have to deal with such harsh words from your mother - it highlights the misogyny and 'honor' b.s. that is ridiculously placed on women.

Its probably best for you to get out of that environment. It seems that your family is too preoccupied with controlling you and with maintaining patriarchy, rather than your well being.
