Re: Nick Clegg: 'Cleggmania' Sweeps Britain, Liberal Democrats Surge In Polls
I agree with you. I can't see Vince Cable and George Osbourne being friends for long. The Banks are already fearful of cable, as he has stated that he is going to break up the so-called 'Super Banks', and if the...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
I'm meeting my friend in Glasgow tomorrow for dinner at 5pm, so before that I'm going to visit the Gurdwara! I haven't planned anything, but figure if I go about 3pm, it shouldn't be too busy and it'll give me a feel for the place before I go next Sunday...
Re: Nick Clegg: 'Cleggmania' Sweeps Britain, Liberal Democrats Surge In Polls
BBC news this morning reported that the LIb Dems have went down 3% in the opinion polls, all of which went to Labour!
Clegg's lust for power and the ease with which he climbed into bed with the Conservatives is...
Re: First time
Lee, thank you so much for your kind words.
I'm one of these people that hates approaching others, but I know that in this situation I will definitely have to. Especially if I want to begin following Sikhi in all things - I can't be a lone practitioner or make myself seem...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
Guys,
I just called the Gurdwara that I was hoping to go to and the guy who answered only spoke Hindi and Punjabi, so not to be perturbed I called the larger Gurdwara, the one I wasn't really wanting to go to.
I spoke to a really nice gentleman (the...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
Tejwant Singh -
There are four Gurdwaras in Glasgow, so I may not meet that man personally. However, his children you speak of:
Hardeep is the writer. He is also a broadcaster, and you always see him on TV wearing his turban with a kilt. He's famous for...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
I'm getting an image now and it's making me smile, so I'll keep that in mind for when I go along!
I'm looking forward to it! You're always nervous first time you do something you've never done before. I'll just keep saying prayers to keep my attention off...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
Many thanks!
As I said in an earlier post, I have to be in Glasgow (which is where the Gurdwara is) on Monday, so if I could arrange to speak with someone then just to go over my worries, etc then that would probably help me a lot. I'll make a call and...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
I do have respect for SGGS - I want to follow Sikhi, as my faith and way of life! Hence, why I obviously have to go to Gurdwara - 'the highest and the most beneficial deed is the Lord's praise the holy congregation'
If I can ask, if someone goes to...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
As it's my first time do I have to go and bow to the SGGS? I know it's respectful but I don't want to make a fool of myself, particularly as I'll be going alone and so will have no-one to keep me right.
Why are things so difficult??? lol
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
I hate crowds - I never used to, it's just in the last few years that I've kind of retreated into myself. This will no doubt be a good way of reclaiming my confidence.
In relation to your post about the 'speaking english' if I call - that was why I was...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
Mai Harinder Kaur -
Yeah, there is defo a phone....I think! lol I'm going to maybe pop in on a weekday first when I have time, so that it's not too busy (hopefully) just to get a feel for the place and the lie of the land! I'm hoping that there is...
Re: Going to Gurudwara Very First Time
I'm surprised they do not have a website either.
But, Ballym, I live in Scotland not England (two very different countries although they are joined together in a union)- so it wouldn't make much difference if English Sikhs did know IT.
