Who do so many Sikh Women are dating and marrying Hindu Men. Here in India most of Sikh Women have Hindu Boyfriends and eventually marry them, In offices and colleges almost all Sikh Girls date Hindu Guys, very few Sikh Girls date their own Sikh Men. If such trend continues Sikhi will cease to exist.

If that question can be perfectly answered (let's say), how will that help you? How will it make you a better Sikh?

Is it really MOST Sikh women?
What about the Sikh men? Are any of them dating/marrying non-Sikh women?
Why is the entire existence of Sikhism dependent on women's marital decisions?

I have noticed both in India and west, that many Sikh families seem to cling to Hindu brahminical practices. Even fire poojas, belief in avatars, idol worship, fasting (I have seen numerous Sikh women partake in Karva Chauth for example, Holi, Lori, celebration of male child etc) My own best friend did some very Hinduized rituals leading up to her marriage... they certainly weren't Sikh practice! My in laws are all Amritdhari and for our wedding we went strictly by SRM. Not to mention my friend had to marry someone from same caste (ramgharia) In some cases aside from the name, you might not even tell they are a Sikh family! Online recently I have seen posts on a Sikh site about how to do fire poojas for Sikhs and talking about devis and devtas as if they were real and part of Sikhi instead of the metaphors they were intended. Really!!! When the lines are getting this blurred what's the difference? Essentially these people are Hindus in Sikh bana anyway. So is it any wonder some girls end up marrying a Hindu boy??
Since you're here... we have a small favor to ask...

More people are visiting & reading SPN than ever but far fewer are paying to sustain it. Advertising revenues across the online media have fallen fast. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Donating to SPN's is vote for free speech, for diversity of opinions, for the right of the people to stand up to religious bigotry. Without any affiliation to any organization, this constant struggle takes a lot of hard work to sustain as we entirely depend on the contributions of our esteemed writers/readers. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too... Fund our efforts and together we can keep the world informed about the real Sikh Sikhi Sikhism. If everyone who writes or reads our content, who likes it, helps us to pay for it, our future would be much more secure. Every Contribution Matters, Contribute Generously!
