OK recently I had been interesting in learning how to meditate. I have done some reasearch and almost everyone has a different way.

So I guess my question is:
is there a wrong way to meditate and a right way?
Howyou meditate?
What can I do to start of as a beginner to meditate?

Thank you

Right, one concept understood differently which has lead to so many practices often contradictory even. This is because everyone simply jumps at the idea and ask as you do, "How to?" instead of "What is meditation?".

The "How to" reflects desire to get something out of the practice and this leads to following the suggestion which appear most promising. "What is" on the other hand could be from a desire to "understand" and this would indicate that one is on the right track.

Re: How or Where Do I Learn to Meditate?

Here's How you meditate:

First, you learn to love and care for those around you, they come first. Neglecting them to meditate (or anything else for that matter,) is fruitless.

Next, you cultivate love.

Then, it happens. . sorry bro, but there is no ka-boom meditation that will automatically result in some higher understanding, you gotta live in life, face the challenges in front of you, attempt to understand and then, with an experience or two, it may be one near death, you realise that you actually ARE cared for, something Is watching over you, and that your ultimate purpose is to Serve Others, as YOU have been served from Day 1, at any given point there's been at least One person in your life watching over you, acknowledge that, and accept that above all, THAT Is your highest calling and one that will bear any real fruit. there is no bypassing Service to garner some rewards for meditation,... Live righteously, remember God, and do your best int he situations put in front of you. Yes, you will get screwed, people will use you, some bad things will happen... but at the end of the day, they're Learning experiences, you can't hide away your heart and attempt to live life another way, you gotta be present in the moment, for whatever comes, joy hurt pain...

Actually, it is all about understanding. And understanding is about "now" and not some other time, place, posture or chosen object. Only what is here and now is valid object of true knowledge and when the kind of understanding develops, one will see that the idea of "meditation" is a result of wrong understanding.

So really, it is not that one may perhaps one day begin to meditate, but rather that there is no reason to entertain such an idea but to go on living life one moment at a time.
