Arvind your reply shows your hatred for some heroes of freedom struggle unfortunately or fortunately only Sikhs Historically raised the first war and slogan for freedom. Not only that they faught for over 150 years to quell mughuls from northeren India and beyond the borders of Kabul and peshawar to that India has respite from the raiders. They were the great pillars for Indian border protection for 200 years and were betrayed from with in and Purbya soldiers the British mercernaries. Sikhism is the religion based on freedom. Sikhism is the practice for freedom of worship. Gurus gave Chadhdi Kala (High Spirits) in all times and great confidence for victory. And sacrifice was not only preached by the Gurus but also embraced. They faught and sacrifice to protect not for their own faith but the faith of Hindus too. When Guru Teg Bahadur was asked by Moghul King why you are fighting for the protection of these Hindus whose ways you do not subscribe. Guru Said persecution I do not suscribe nor shall allow any one to tremple over by force any one's faith just to satify the ego of his own belief. " Tilak Janjhu Rakha " Guru Teg Bahdur gave up his head but not the faith. So your acceptance or judgement can not change the truth and it is true that when known leaders (Gandhi and Tilak and others ) of the time echoed Savrajya although Sikhs had lost their Empire to British but the fire for freedom was never dampened. So it was the Punjab and the Sikhs who led the struggle with first brunt of physical sacrifice. About Mutiny: Purbiyas of Mutiny never raised any slogan of freedom they only raised an objection to use the ammunition there is great difference. They were just mercernaries and faught for money not for moral or political goals in mind. It is later on by an after thought and history alteration that the mutiny was named as freedom movement. Purbyas army neither had that goal nor that slogan. The Britishers changed the ammunition and they were happy. many of these soldiers changed religion and adopted christianity. Check up the history of these soldiers. from british documents. HP Luthera
