Salok

ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਹੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Agam agāḏẖ pārbarahm so▫e. Jo jo kahai so mukṯā ho▫e.
The supreme creator is beyond reproach and infinite. Those who revere, such are salvaged.

ਸੁਨਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਿਨਵੰਤਾ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਅਚਰਜ ਕਥਾ ॥੧॥
Sun mīṯā Nānak binvanṯā. Sāḏẖ janā kī acẖraj kathā. ||1||
Listen friend, Nanak is praying. Pious people have uniquely different style.

ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥

Eight stanzas hymn

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Sāḏẖ kai sang na kabhū ḏẖāvai. Sāḏẖ kai sang saḏā sukẖ pāvai.
In the company of the pious, one never wanders. In the company of the pious, always comfort is found.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਲਹੈ ॥ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਜਰੁ ਸਹੈ ॥
Sāḏẖsang basaṯ agocẖar lahai. Sāḏẖū kai sang ajar sahai.
With the pious, one finds as such un-approachable items. In the company of the pious, one can persevere through what cannot be endured.

ਸਾਧਕੈਸੰਗਿਬਸੈਥਾਨਿਊਚੈ॥ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਹਲਿ ਪਹੂਚੈ ॥
Sāḏẖ kai sang basai thān ūcẖai. Sāḏẖū kai sang mahal pahūcẖai.
In the company of the pious, one lives higher living. In the company of the pious, one finds the abode.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਸਭਿ ਧਰਮ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੇਵਲ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥
Sāḏẖ kai sang ḏariṛai sabẖ ḏẖaram. Sāḏẖ kai sang keval pārbarahm.
In the company of the pious, one fully understands duties. In the company of the pious, only creator prevails.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੪॥
Sāḏẖ kai sang pā▫e nām niḏẖān. Nānak sāḏẖū kai kurbān. ||4||
In the company of the pious, one finds the wealth of understanding. Nanak so humbly cherishes of the pious.

ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji state the infiniteness of the creator and enormous value in of knowing so for salvation. Guru ji find the company and the virtues of the pious as being with the likeness of creator.

Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 7, 4th stanza continue with describing the virtues of association with pious. One finds focus, comfort, nothing stays distant, endurance is achieved, finds higher living, finds salvation, understands the reason to be and only creator is seen everywhere.

Guru ji conclude that greater understanding is so achieved and one I sso humbly cherishing of the pious.
