Re: Some info about Shias for Caramel Sugar You are wrong here because what about all the gay Muslims that are taught it is wrong to be gay. And if homosexuality is down to upbringing then you are going against your choice argument because now that is implying that homosexuality is something psychological. Do you have any proof to back up this argument? Considered normal? Well not really... Go to any school and you will find that the term "gay" is used as an insult, and most gay kids do not even come out of the closet until they are in college. Also, I was brought up with the assumption from my parents that I would always grow up, have a nice wife and that would be that. VERY rarely do parents say "hey you might be gay, that's ok!" And also, the violence against gays is increasing. If society is more accepting then why do we not see gay couples kissing and hugging in public? People would be disgusted and homosexuality is still treated by many as something that is too adult for the whole of society to constantly acknowledge. There maybe more acceptance, but it is still VERY HARD to be gay in this world... and believe me as a gay myself I can vouch for this... and if you knew what I have gone through you must consider me a crazy coot for 'choosing' to be gay!!! Sex with animals is wrong, rape is wrong, sex with children is wrong and sex with the mentally unfit is wrong... and why? Because they cannot/do not give full consent to sexual acts and cannot full understand the psychological, mental and physical logic and meaning behind it. Are you really Muslim? [please do not take offence to this]... but what makes one a Muslim? Well, I don't want to make this response long, but the Qu'ran is for mankind right? well, then you seem to be looking at the interpretations of scholars, which is what all Muslims seem to do, and it cannot be guaranteed that their interpretations are always right. I am STILL not convinced the rulings on homosexuality since the quotes used are not very clear and can have many meanings. So as a Muslim, you should look for answers yourselves, not what others are saying. To be honest, I will only every be persuaded by any religious authority if they can provide a quote that says "you shall not be attracted or love the same gender". Such a quote does not exist and therefore we have the right to debate about it and question it. For example, in a Hindu scripture called the Shikshapatri it says: "One shall never eat meat, not even remnants of an offering in a sacrifice. One shall never drink liquor or alcohol even though they may be an offering to a deity." - Verse 15 Now this is a religious verse that I CANNOT debate the validity of since it is clear cut and not in poetical form. So this is a problem with interpretation I guess, scriptures are not clear cut. Can I debate the validity of Allah being all knowing? NO, because it is clear cut in scripture: "To Allah belong the east and the West: Whithersoever ye turn, there is the presence of Allah. For Allah is all-Pervading, all-Knowing." - 002.115 So this is why I am debating this with you, the issue will ALWAYS be around as NO RELIGIOUS SCRIPTURE is CLEAR CUT on the issue [of homosexuality].
