If I am not mistaken, she was freed by the court in the past several months. Will check for that article. The article above is from December 2010 and the trial concluded very recently.

It is also true that the aggrieved fiance of her daughter, of a lower caste, first made allegations of Kaur's involvement in the homicide, and then later retracted his statements. See link posted above.

This case was bound up in issues of caste and abortion, not only killing of a daughter. Of course one still has to wonder how a party with a platform against female foeticide would have selected Kaur ji without a court verdict being issued.

Focal points in this case leading into December 2010 are that anticipatory bail was granted to Kaur ji, Kawaljit Singh turned hostile, and 2 FIRS were brought against him (btw) for his turning hostile.

Please take offense but i would like to clear this doubt about the image... This is a very very common Adobe Photoshop Software technique which can enhance the face of any image. Even a novice like me can do this with any image. This is a non-issue! :veryhappymunda:

Bibi Jagir Kaur’s appointment as patron of Istri Akali Dal ‘a farce’
    Tribune News Service

    Patiala, December 4
The Shiromani Akali Dal should hang its head in shame for appointing former SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur as patron of the Istri Akali Dal, notwithstanding the fact that she is facing a trial in the murder case of her own daughter Harpreet Kaur. Expressing these views, Congress MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Singh Khaira said everyone was aware of the fact that Bibi Jagir Kaur was a prime accused in the infamous Harpreet Kaur murder case.

Khaira said Bibi Jagir Kaur was charged with murdering her daughter Harpreet Kaur, besides allegedly illegally getting her five-month foetus aborted. “The Istri Akali Dal is supposed to create awareness on issues related to atrocities against women in Punjab. The SAD and Istri Akali Dal are also directly involved with the much-hyped “Nanhi Chhaan” programme, being patronised by Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal. The basic aim of “Nanhi Chhaan” is to launch a tirade against female foeticide and allow girl child freedom in our society”, said Khaira, while adding that by appointing Bibi Jagir Kaur as the patron of the Istri Akali Dal, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal has defeated the very purpose of propagating fight against female foeticide.
