Sabh Gobind Hein, Gobind bin Nahin Koi

Following are two very interesting events, One from Islam and the other one from Christianity.

Can the same happen in Sikhi?

If this happened in Sikhi, How in your opinion would the Sangat react?
    Please share your opinions.

Imam Yahya Davis transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member mosque, treated awfully

Imam Yahya Davis transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member mosque that he was to be introduced as the head Imam at that morning. He walked around his soon to be mosque for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for jummah....only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food....NO ONE in the mosque gave him change. He went into the musallah to sit down in the front of the mosque and was asked if he would please sit in the back. He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him.

As he sat in the back of the mosque, he listened to the mosque announcements and such. When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new Imam of the mosque to the congregation........"We would like to introduce to you Imam Yahya Davis"....The jammat looked around filled with joy and anticipation.....The homeless man sitting in the back stood up.....and started walking down.....the happiness stopped with ALL eyes on him....he walked up the memba and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment....then he recited

"Verily, Allah will say to his slave when He will be taking account of him on the Day of Judgement, 'O' son of Adam, I was hungry and you did not feed me.' He will answer: 'How could I feed you? You are the Lord of the worlds!' He will say: 'Did you not know that my slave so and so who is the son of so and so felt hunger, and you'did not feed him. Alas, had you fed him you would have found that (i.e. reward) with Me.' 'O' son of Adam, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink.' He will reply: 'How could I give You drink? You are the Lord of the worlds!' He will say: 'Did you not know that my slave so and so, the son of so and so felt thirsty and you did not give him drink. Alas, if you had given him, you would have found that (i.e. reward) with me.' 'O' son of Adam, I became sick and you did not visit Me.' He will answer: 'How can I visit You? You are the Lord of the worlds!' He will say: 'Did you not know that my slave so and so, the son of so and so became sick and you did not visit him. Alas, had you visited him, you would have found Me with him."

After he recited this, he looked towards the congregation and told them all what he had experienced that morning...many began to cry.... he then said....Today I see a gathering of people......not a community of Allah. The world has enough people, but not enough true Muslims...when will YOU decide to become Muslims? He then asked the Muadhan to call the iqamaat fro salat...

Church Mistreats Homeless Man In Church, Unaware It Is Their Pastor In Disguise

BY STEVEN BANCARZJANUARY 21, 2014GOD, SPIRITUALITY

Pastor Jeremiah Steepek transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning.

He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service, only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him.

He asked people for change to buy food – no one in the church gave him change.

He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit in the back.

He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him.

As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such.

When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation.

“We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek.” The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation.

The homeless man sitting in the back stood up and started walking down the aisle. The clapping stopped with all eyes on him.

He walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment then he recited,

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

‘The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

After he recited this, he looked towards the congregation and told them all what he had experienced that morning. Many began to cry and many heads were bowed in shame.

He then said, “Today I see a gathering of people, not a church of Jesus Christ. The world has enough people, but not enough disciples. When will YOU decide to become disciples?”

He then dismissed service until next week.

Following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ should be more than just talk. It ought to be a lifestyle that others around you can love about you and share in.

There are claims going around that this story is not true. It may not be, but even if it’s not true, the importance of the message still stands.

No offences, but I think the thread heading is misleading with relation to contents of the thread.

    Aristotle ji,

    Guru Fateh.

If you do not like the title, please ask the Moderators to change it with the one you think is not misleading because I do not know how to do it.

I do not want the title to be a distraction for what I think can become a very good discussion.

    Regards

    Tejwant Singh

    Aristotle Ji,
The Title is most APT and appropriate for the message of this Thread...We Sikhs too say God is everywhere..He in everyone..and shout Sabh Gobind Hai..BUT then become the true MALIK BHAGOS that we are and blinded by Maya CANT and REFUSE to see HIM in all and everything !!!

So please let the Title remain.:tablakudi:

Helping the needy, the sick, the destitute is not just good, it is the duty of every well-minded citizen. But, we should not let begging become a fashion. Those who can work, should work; it is better to find them a job rather than drop a penny in their hands. Even the Bible says so,

WAAND CHHAKNNAH is one of the most important PILLARS of Gurmatt...and KIRT KARNEE comes before that...so its obvious a SIKH is not allowed to be a beggar. He ahs to EARN and SHARE..this covers BOTH ends...our Foundation is laid very strong by Guru Nanak Ji...

Guru Nanak ji preferred the humble abode of Bhai lalo and refused to attend Malik Bhagos FEAST.....to instill in us the Honest KIRT value...TODAY Majority of Guru ka Langgar in Most Gurdwaras is NOT paid for by HONEST KIRT !!! Its mostly MALIK BHAGOS type...and IF we could emulate Guru nanak ji...BLOOD would flow from each pathurah, pooree etc served...the BLOOD of Corruption, GREED, DISHONESTY, cheating, Lying, misapproprations, hera pherees, THEFT etc etc...SAD but TRUE....and then the GREED exhibited by those who "PACK" that langgars to take HOME !!!..adds to the stink...

As to how the snagat might act..a funny incident happened a few years ago at a wedding at one of the major Gurdwaras in Kuala Lumpur..the Guard at the door actually stopped and prevented the Girls father from coming into the Gurdwara becasue the guy looked like a beggar..???

I have seen sevadaars frowning and sangat members frowning at beggars being fed at the same tables and same utensils as used by the sangat..of course the objections were cloaked behind issues such as health, hygiene, AIDS, communicable diseases etc of the Beggars and homeless ones spreading to the wealthy sangats..

Gur ka Langgars are mostly run BY Sikhs, FOR Sikhs and OF Sikhs anyway...Some efforts are underway to stop this and spread the genuine spirit of Sikhism..
