Punjabi varsity to prepare compendium on Banda Singh Bahadur

    Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh announced to create comprehensive source material on the hallowed Sikh warrior and martyr, Banda Singh Bahadur.

    The effort, he said, will constitute compiling of the entire available material related to his multi-faceted life in the form of a compendium. The university plans to prepare a documentary featuring various aspects of life and attainments of the great Sikh hero.

    The Syndicate also appreciated the selection of 20 students of B.Tech. course in TV, Film Production and Media Technology of University’s Centre for Advanced Media Studies (CAMS). It was regarded as a rare achievement that the centre has accomplished in just about a year of its establishment.

    The syndicate gave its nod to start 14 new professional and job-oriented courses on the university campus. The courses include MCA (NC, Joga Ralla); MBA (College of Engineering & Management, Rampura Phul); M.Sc. (IT) at Guru Kashi College, Damdama Sahib; and M Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (RC, Mohali). The new courses start from the next academic session which includes PG Diploma in Gender Studies and PG Diploma in Women and Child Development (Women Studies Centre); certificate course in Soft Skills and Personality Development (Distance Education Department); certificate courses in Video editing (CAMS); M Sc Nanotechnology (Physics); M.Sc. Applied Mathematics & Computing (Mathematics); M.Com. Honours (Commerce); PG diploma in Broadcast Journalism (Journalism); Engineering Management (University College if Engineering) and Certificate Course in Guru Granth Sahib.
