Jalandhar (May 21, 2010): Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) has announced to observe “Holocaust weak” from 1 to 6 June and to hold a “Holocaust memorial march” from Chapparchiri to Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.

Harpal Singh Cheema, Secretary General of Panch Pardhani informed media persons here that decision in this regard was taken by supreme council of party at a meeting held at Ludhiana, few days back. He said that this meeting was also attended by Kulbir Singh Barapind, Jasvir Singh Khandur, and Balwinder Singh Jhabaal, besides others, and this decision has been confirmed party chairman Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, who is currently lodged in Amritsar Jail alledgly for political reasons. He claimed that all initial preparations in this regard have already been done.

The march shall pass through 10 districts of Punjab including Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa, Bathinda, Moga, Firozepur, Tarn Taran and Amritsar. Night stays shall be held at Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dawar (Shekhupura, Patiala), Takhat Damdama Sahib, Jogewala and Tarn Taran; where the party shall hold socio-religious functions. On 6th June holocaust day shall be observed at Sri Akal Takht Sahib at Amritsar. On this occasion “Baba Banda Singh Bahardar” award shall be awarded to Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who laid his life for sovereignty of Sikh principles and institutions.” informed Jasvir Singh Kahndur, Organizing secretary of Panch Pardhani.

In answer to a question regarding reasons behind organizing these functions HS Cheema said that “Third holocaust of Sikh history started with armed attack on Darbar Sahib Amritsar in June 1984. It is an unimagined catastrophe, which realized the Sikhs that no nation could survive without ‘sovereignty’.”

“Where as it is fundamental for Sikhs to remember those who sacrificed their life to uphold respect for, and honour of, Sri Akal Takht Sahib; at the same time it is necessary to explore creative dimensions of this phase of Sikh history. ” he added.

Party personnel claimed that canon shell used at historic war of Lohgarh, sacred arrow of Sant Bhindranwale and other historical things shall also be displayed during this march
