Anxious over the incessant incidents of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in various cities of Sindh in the past five months, the Sikhs of Pakistan have decided to identify the miscreants responsible for the incidents and persuade them to mend their ways or face legal action.

Former president of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSPGC) Bishan Singh who is also chairman of Baba Guru Nanak Welfare Society, Pakistan told TOI over phone from Lahore on Saturday that there were certain elements who wanted to create a rift between the Sikhs and Hindus by resorting to such incidents.

Singh said that in the past couple of months there had been five incidents of desecration of Sikh's holy book in Shikarpur, Pannu Aquil and Mehar, all cities in Sindh province of Pakistan.

Three incidents of tearing the pages of the holy book occurred in Khatwali Darbar, Samadh Ashram and Sajal Sher Darbar, all in Shikarpur and one incident each in Guru Nanak Darbar, Mehar and Dall Darbar in Pannu Aquil, he said.

Couple of days ago an incident of burning of two Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib happened in a Darbar in Khairpur, Sindh. Bishan Singh told that he had held a meeting with Sikh sangat of Peshawar in Gurdwara Bhai Joga Singh on Thursday wherein they had decided to hold meeting with the managements of these Darbar to convince them to not hurt the Sikh's religious sentiments by showing disrespect to Sri Guru Granth Sahib. "If they didn't listen to us, then we will be left with no option but to take legal action against them," he said.
