Like each year Australia Day was celebrated through out Australia on 26 Jan 2015. In Melbourne People from all walk of life from cultural groups to community groups participated in prime event of the day Australia Day Parade.

Representing Sikhs for the first time, Sikh Volunteers Australia and Sikh Interfaith Council of Victoria also joined the Parade.

Hundereds of Sikhs including men, women and children joined the march starting from Melbourne Town Hall and proceeding along Swanston Street and St Kilda Road. The Sikh turbans made them look different from others, and they received encouraging remarks, overwhelming applause and were very well received by the onlookers, who cheered and waved flags at them.

Australia Day in Victoria is a day for people from every walk of life to celebrate the things we love about our country. It is a time to celebrate our freedom – as individuals and as a nation; our lifestyle and culture; our land and its beauty, and the outback; our history and Indigenous past; and our opportunities and future.
