The Shiromani Akali Dal (1920) has written a letter to Governor of Punjab to declare the state a "tobacco-free area" on the lines of Chandigarh. However, Dal president Ravi Inder Singh has also alleged in the letter that the Badal government accepted donations from Indian Tobacco Company.
