Investigators: Fire at Sikh Temple Intentionally Set

Investigators: Fire at Sikh Temple Intentionally Set - KTVN Channel 2 - Reno Tahoe News Weather, Video -

Investigators believe Monday night's fire at the Sikh Temple was intentionally set to cover an attempted burglary.
Investigators continue to examine the scene and are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Secret Witness Program at 322-4900 to provide their information on an anonymous basis.

Church members have been extremely helpful by working with fire investigators to provide information to assist with the case. Evidence found on scene is being tested for fingerprints through the Washoe County Crime Lab. A residence next to the temple was also burglarized around the same time frame of the fire.

Reno Fire Department investigators advise there is no indication at this time that the fire is a result of a hate crime.

The Reno Fire Department responded to the incident with 3 structure fire engines, a ladder truck, an air support unit, a safety officer, one battalion chief, a chaplain, and a fire investigator. Arriving firefighters advised the Temple was already fully involved. There were no reported injuries related to the fire as the building was unoccupied.
