    Infinite Lord Remain Unwritten

    'Word of God' is the Essence of Sikhism. It is the unspoken Speech of Lord.

    It can be felt and understood only by His Own Grace. Nobody can make claims to make others grasp the 'Word Of God', 'the Ultimate Truth'- 'Gurbani'.

    Today I am going to share the following words of Guru Ji with those who are interested in Gurbani. In this Shabad Guru Ji describes the uselessness of reading and writting all the writtings if the Mind is engrossed in Maya and Worldly Pride. To understand the Unspoken Speech of God, ONE HAS TO DIE IN 'THE WORD OF GOD':

    Nanak Bani Nirankaar Paarbrahm Parmesar
    Waho Waho Bani Nirankaar Hai Tis Jevad Avar Na Koi

    ANG 412-13

    ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

    Aasaa, First Mehl:

    ਲੇਖ ਅਸੰਖ ਲਿਖਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
    laekh asankh likh likh maan ||
    There are innumerable writings; those who write them take pride in them.

    ਮਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਐ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਖਾਨੁ ॥
    man maaniai sach surath vakhaan ||
    When one's mind accepts the Truth, he understands, and speaks of it.

    ਕਥਨੀ ਬਦਨੀ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
    kathhanee badhanee parr parr bhaar ||
    Words, spoken and read again and again, are useless loads.

    ਲੇਖ ਅਸੰਖ ਅਲੇਖੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
    laekh asankh alaekh apaar ||1||
    There are innumerable writings, but the Infinite Lord remains unwritten. ||1||

    ਐਸਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਤੂੰ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
    aisaa saachaa thoon eaeko jaan ||
    Know that such a True Lord is the One and only.

    ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
    janman maranaa hukam pashhaan ||1|| rehaao ||
    Understand that birth and death come according to the Lord's Will. ||1||Pause||

    ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਜਗੁ ਬਾਧਾ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ॥
    maaeiaa mohi jag baadhhaa jamakaal ||
    Because of attachment to Maya, the world is bound by the Messenger of Death.

    ਬਾਂਧਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿ ॥
    baandhhaa shhoottai naam samhaal ||
    These bonds are released when one remembers the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

    ਗੁਰੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
    gur sukhadhaathaa avar n bhaal ||
    The Guru is the Giver of peace; do not look for any other.

    ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਨਿਬਹੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
    halath palath nibehee thudhh naal ||2||
    In this world, and the next, He shall stand by you. ||2||

    ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਾਂ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
    sabadh marai thaan eaek liv laaeae ||
    One who dies in the Word of the Shabad, embraces love for the One Lord.

    ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਤਾਂ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥
    achar charai thaan bharam chukaaeae ||
    One who eats the uneatable, has his doubts dispelled.

    ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
    jeevan mukath man naam vasaaeae ||
    He is Jivan Mukta - liberated while yet alive; the Naam abides in his mind.

    ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੩॥
    guramukh hoe th sach samaaeae ||3||
    Becoming Gurmukh, he merges into the True Lord. ||3||

    ਜਿਨਿ ਧਰ ਸਾਜੀ ਗਗਨੁ ਅਕਾਸੁ ॥
    jin dhhar saajee gagan akaas ||
    The One who created the earth and the Akaashic ethers of the sky,

    ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭ ਥਾਪੀ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਿ ॥
    jin sabh thhaapee thhaap outhhaap ||
    established all; He establishes and disestablishes.

    ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ॥
    sarab niranthar aapae aap ||
    He Himself is permeating all.

    ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਪੂਛੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਆਪਿ ॥੪॥
    kisai n pooshhae bakhasae aap ||4||
    He does not consult anyone; He Himself forgives. ||4||

    ਤੂ ਪੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਮਾਣਕ ਹੀਰੁ ॥
    thoo pur saagar maanak heer ||
    You are the Ocean, over-flowing with jewels and rubies.

    ਤੂ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰੁ ॥
    thoo niramal sach gunee geheer ||
    You are immaculate and pure, the true treasure of virtue.ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਭੇਟੈ ਗੁਰ ਪੀਰੁ ॥
    sukh maanai bhaettai gur peer ||
    Peace is enjoyed, meeting the Guru, the Spiritual Teacher.

    ਏਕੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਏਕੁ ਵਜੀਰੁ ॥੫॥
    eaeko saahib eaek vajeer ||5||
    The Lord is the only Master; He is the only Minister. ||5||

    ਜਗੁ ਬੰਦੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਹਉ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
    jag bandhee mukathae ho maaree ||
    The world is held in bondage; he alone is emancipated, who conquers his ego.

    ਜਗਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਆਚਾਰੀ ॥
    jag giaanee viralaa aachaaree ||
    How rare in the world is that wise person, who practices this.

    ਜਗਿ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
    jag panddith viralaa veechaaree ||
    How rare in this world is that scholar who reflects upon this.

    ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਭ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੬॥
    bin sathigur bhaettae sabh firai ahankaaree ||6||
    Without meeting the True Guru, all wander in ego. ||6||

    ਜਗੁ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
    jag dhukheeaa sukheeaa jan koe ||
    The world is unhappy; only a few are happy.

    ਜਗੁ ਰੋਗੀ ਭੋਗੀ ਗੁਣ ਰੋਇ ॥
    jag rogee bhogee gun roe ||
    The world is diseased, from its indulgences; it weeps over its lost virtue.

    ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
    jag oupajai binasai path khoe ||
    The world wells up, and then subsides, losing its honor.

    ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥
    guramukh hovai boojhai soe ||7||
    He alone, who becomes Gurmukh, understands. ||7||

    His price is so costly; His weight is unbearable.

    ਅਟਲ ਅਛਲੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਧਾਰੁ ॥
    attal ashhal guramathee dhhaar ||
    He is immovable and undeceivable; enshrine Him in your mind, through the Guru's Teachings.

    ਭਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਭਇਕਾਰੁ ॥
    bhaae milai bhaavai bhaeikaar ||
    Meet Him through love, become pleasing to Him, and act in fear of Him.

    Nanak the lowly says this, after deep contemplation. ||8||3||

    Gurbani eis jag meh chaanan
    Gurbani alakh lakhiayaa
    Gurbani Gavo Bhaee
    charan kamal parabh kay nit Dhi-aava-o

    So if we need to know God, need to understand Gurbani, we have to first accept this truth without any conditions, I-ness HAS TO WITHER AWAY COMPLETELY. All kintu, prantu, kayonkee(but, if, beacuse) have to die down. Otherwise all the effort will be like - kaagat ke bhaar moosa took gavaavat...

    Through the Guru, Lord dwells within the mind :).

    Guru Ji tells us inthe following Shabad:

    English Translation:
    Raag Gauree Poorbee, Fifth Mehl:
    Listen, my friends, I beg of you: now is the time to serve the Saints!
    In this world, earn the profit of the Lord's Name, and hereafter, you shall dwell in peace. ||1||
    This life is diminishing, day and night. Meeting with the Guru, your affairs shall be resolved. ||1||Pause||
    This world is engrossed in corruption and cynicism. Only those who know God are saved.
    Only those who are awakened by the Lord to drink in this Sublime Essence, come to know the Unspoken Speech of the Lord. ||2||
    Purchase only that for which you have come into the world, and through the Guru, the Lord shall dwell within your mind.
    Within the home of your own inner being, you shall obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence with intuitive ease. You shall not be consigned again to the wheel of reincarnation. ||3||
    O Inner-knower, Searcher of Hearts, O Primal Being, Architect of Destiny: please fulfill this yearning of my mind.
    Nanak, Your slave, begs for this happiness: let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||5||

    Japji Sahib:

    Last Pauri, Guru Ji tells:

    English Translation:
    Let self-control be the furnace, and patience the goldsmith.
    Let understanding be the anvil, and spiritual wisdom the tools.
    With the Fear of God as the bellows, fan the flames of tapa, the body's inner heat.
    In the crucible of love, melt the Nectar of the Name,
    and mint the True Coin of the Shabad, the Word of God.
    Such is the karma of those upon whom He has cast His Glance of Grace.
    O Nanak, the Merciful Lord, by His Grace, uplifts and exalts them. ||38||
