Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakal!
Beloved Spiritual Companions!

There is a lot of matter being published since ages. It is in different forms of books, magazines etc., also on Internet.

These are statements and thoughts expressed once.

We do not call those Baanee.

We read or sing our Guru's Songs and call this Guru's Baanee. Why?

Please share your views.

Singh ji,

You have already answered it by yourself. That is Gurbani as it is 'Guru's Banee'. Something said by you may be known as 'Balbir ji's Banee' but not Gurbani.

Bhull Chukk Maaf ji.

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji KI fateh.

Dhur Ki banee aiyee tin saglee chint mitayee.... says GURU NANAK.

Banee GURU, GURU hai BANNEE, wich Bannee AMRIT sareh....and Partakh GURU NISTAREH...

SATGUR BINa Hor KACHEE BANNEE,...and Kehndeh kache, sundeh kache kachee aakh vikhannee..

GURBANI is all that Enshrined in the GURU GRANTH JI from aang 1- EK Onkaar....to 1429..Slok Mh Panjavan Tera Kita Jatoh nahi.

Guru Banee is also that Which the Guru Khalsa Panth has accepted to be the Authentic writings of GURU GObind Singh ji like Jaap Sahib, Akaal ustat, Swaiyah Pat 10 etc.

Other Banee that is allowed to be read and sung in the Presence of GURU GRANTH JI is Bhai Gurdass Ji's and Bhai Nand Laal Ji's writings.

BESIDES this ALL other kavitas, poems, Religious JINGLES etc are NOT "bannee"..these are HUMAN MADE...and Kachee Writing. Dhaddee Vaars have a special place in Sikhe and can be SUNG in the Guru's Presence because these are sanctioned bY GURU Hargobind Ji himself and the Dhadee vaars are clearly Dhadee vaars sung for JOSH and warrior spirit.

Religious Jingles callaed Dhaarnas are human made and cannot be sung in the Guru's Presence as they UNDERMINE the REAL GURBANI by trying to be "copy cat Gurbani". It is a FALLACY and a LIE to say thet People cannot Understand GURBANI..and so dhaarnas are sung to "explain" GURBANI.
How can we say this.. "Jithey jaheh baheh mera satgur so thaan sihava Raam Rajeh... IS AUTHENTIC GURBANI. " Uh dhartee nu bhaag lagg gayeh jithhey mere kalgian walleh baeth gaiyeh...is A RELIGIOUS JINGLE (Dhaarna).. Can anyone knowing Punjabi really say that the GURBANi is "difficult" but the dhaarna is "simple" ?? honestly ??

Gyani Jarnail Singh Ji! Thanks for the wonderful references from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

I feel Gurbani is mainly the NAM given as Gurprasaad.

The word Gurbani occurs many times in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the same context.

Here are few examples.

jwgu slonVIey bolY gurbwxI rwm ]
"jaag salonrhee-ay bolai gurbaanee raam." SGGS ANG 844-5
Awake! The possessor of beautiful eyes, the speech of the Guru is chanting Raam.

jnu nwnku boly gux bwxI gurbwxI hir nwim smwieAw ]
"jan naanak bolay gun baanee gurbaanee har naam samaa-i-aa." SGGS ANG 494-5
The being Nanak says attributes of the speech. The speech of the Guru is dwelling with Hari NAM.

You wrote "GURBANI is all that Enshrined in the GURU GRANTH JI from aang 1- EK Onkaar....to 1429..Slok Mh Panjavan Tera Kita Jatoh nahi."

In my view, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is all about NAM spoken from our Gurus (Gurbani).

Doing Jap and Satsangs about Jap are two different activities.

In both activities Guru's presence and role are of great importance. Both are uttered from the Guru's mouth.

The most important is NAM SIMRAN.

Love.
