Singhbj Ji and Sikh80 Ji,

I have seen Ragees singing Hymns and explain in brief its meanings. But most of them don't.

Then there are the Granthis - they too give meanings of Vaak. Most granthis do explain (not in detail) the shabad they are singing.

The Kathavachaks are few in numbers and they are the ones who give detailed explanations of shabad. Jaswant Singh Parwana is a good kathavachak.

There are the Sants (who are not very welcomed by the Sikh Sangat) - they rather hold mysterious congregations and are not outright about anything. Some call them Pakhandee Babas - not without a reason.

These are my observations in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia over the years.
