Countdown to 2014. Wish a Happy New Year to Kith and Kin!

In a mere 8 hours it will be 2014 in Australia, where the New Year begins for our SPN members, and notably Ishna ji. On time travels to Kuala Lumpur where it greets so many of us there, including the inimitable Gyani Jarnail Singh. Time makes it way to the subcontinent where our largest membership resides. There Admin Singh and Dalbirk, aristotle ji, and so many of you will greet the new year. Time skirts through the Middle East and bows to japjisahib004 next in Kuwait. Did you know that Kuwait holds the Guiness World Record for the most elaborate New Year's Eve fireworks celebration? But.. Bahrain is dead set to take the cup in 2014 with a monstrous fireworks celebration engineered by 100 computers. Forward, forward to Europe where the march of time meets harry haller in the United Kingdom, and greets Randip Singh and findingmyway. Time next ferries over the Atlantic pond where the New Year greets spnadmin and 1 hour later Arvind Singh, and 3 hours later Mai Harinder ji, each on different sides of the continent.

Sikh Philosophy Network wishes all of you a safe, blessed, chardi kala year for 2014. But let us not stop at that. You need to be part of this thread, where you can wish other members a beaming year ahead.

Please tell us how you will spend New Year's Eve, New Year's day: if you are attending all night gurdwara services, having friends for kirtan to your house, attending a New Year's kirtan event. Are you going to the cinema? Will you be dining out? Will you be holing up inside your warm and cozy house with family and dear ones?

Periodically I will update this thread. There is even a planned space for Mexico to be heard.

Happy New Year from all of us to all of you. In the next spot check out the Countdown calculators set for Sydney, Kuala Lumpur and New Delhi.

Count down Sydney.

Click on this link and count the hours, minutes and seconds to 2014 in Australia.

You can meddle with this and find the countdown automator for any city in the world.

Type the name of the city in the search bar. Look for the drop down menu of choices. Then click on the country's flag

US and Canada are in 8 different time zones altogether. So we can wait until tomorrow to do those countdowns.

Meanwhile be safe. Don't drink and drive. If you do drink give your car keys to someone who can be designated to drive for you. If you are going to party in groups, have one person do the driving for all of you. Do not allow anyone who has been drinking too many and has no other way to get home except by automobile to drive. Instead call a taxi. Of course, if you are a Sikh... well you know what I would say ......

Most of all use some of this time to think about the past year and its hills and its valleys, things to be grateful for, and things that were blessings. Happy New Year for now. I will be back with more count downs tomorrow.

Until then? When I return to the forum in the morning stateside I expect to see a full report where many of you have posted to this thread. Chardi Kala
